Demand on fishing for recreation

There are many who believe that fish are only a resource to be used merely to survive or to some extent a food supply but there is another reason that is little known. The manufacturing industry processes more than 2,000,000,000 pounds of fish and various fish products every year. Strangely, this is actually more than is used for food.

What a lot of people are unaware of is that the sport of fishing is providing a convenient recreational activity which makes it a very popular pastime for all ages. In fact it is continuing to grow which explains why the estimated number of people that get a fishing license each year is more than 12 million.

Surveys show that for every dollar spent on a fishing license sixteen additional dollars are spent on equipment such as fishing tackle, food, clothing, and transportation. In fact you may be surprised to learn that there is more money spent for fishing activities than on any other hobby in existence.

So, why is it a Great Hobby? It is a way of providing a way to free the mind of stresses and daily worries. It also helps in assisting and mentoring troubled teens by filtering out negative thoughts as well as activity with positive traits. Fishing really is a challenging activity.

All the different variations of equipment has definitely added things that other features could ever accomplish alone. Now tons of young people are ready and willing to learn how to cast a fly or plug bait. These young people are interested in fish and fishing and they want to do so in a lawful and recreational manner.

Stripped down to it's fundamentals fish and fishing might be seen as just one of man's few essential resources. It is hoped that more and more people thinking of fishing as a hobby instead of a necessity will help to develop knowledge of the true recreational value of fishing, the fish, and the conservation of natural resources and as well as the value of good sportsmanship and the eventual upbringing of good citizens.
