It is the enticing nature of the game, which has made cricket a household name across the globe, and there are no signs of its popularity waning with time. Tournaments like the World Cup and T-20 have got splendid feedback. In world cricket, India is one of the most regarded and revered participating countries. Realising its own style and beauty, Indian cricket has some of the most glorious players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Sunil Gavaskar who have added great value to the squad.

Indian cricket is the great combination of national and regional cricket squads. Each region in India has its own regional cricket squad and all these teams take part in many tournaments like Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. The best players from these regional cricket teams move forward and get opportunity to prove themselves at international level. The highest determining authority of cricket in India is a body called The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who are not only the deciding authority of the national squad but also address issues like sponsorship and individual roles of players who participate in the national team for cricket.

Other than the domestic body called the BCCI, there are also state level cricket control governments that are in charge of supervising the participants at the region level, and also groom them for handling future and higher responsibilities. Unnecessary to mention that the state level governments have a major role to play in building the national teram and of late magnificent and youthful players like Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Pathan have entered the scene with the assistance of state level authorities.

Indian cricket squad got approval as test squad in 1932 that was a subject of great honor for every Indian and in the same year, the squad played its initial test cricket match against England at Lords and really established their potential as a good test squad. Since then, there has been no looking back for India and the country has surged ahead making and breaking various international records. Moreover, India has the distinction of winning the world cup in 1983 as well as the Y20 world cup recently and the test victory against England played in Madras in 1952. So further on in the same year, India won the first test series, this time crushing Pakistan.
